In our September issue, we interview Vlady, a talented tattoo artist originally from Romania. Constantly on the move, he travels and works at guest spots in various countries, bringing his art to an international audience. With an educational background in fine arts and architecture, Vlady creates truly unique pieces for each client, blending technical precision with creative vision.
Take a look at his photo gallery and dive into the full interview to discover more about his journey and artistic philosophy.

Can you start by introducing yourself and sharing a little about your journey as a tattoo artist?
I’m Vlady. I’ve been painting and drawing since I was six years old. Today, I work as a guest tattoo artist around the world, always looking for inspiration in new cultures and, most of all, in nature. I studied Monumental Art at the National College of Arts, where I learned mural techniques and how to stylize large-scale architecture. Since the age of 13, I’ve also worked on restoration projects under the guidance of my art teacher. My work includes contributions to historic buildings, churches, and healthcare facilities in Romania.
How would you describe your style, and what made you choose this direction in tattooing?
My style emphasizes the human body as a living canvas, creating compositions that follow its natural flow. I combine abstract shapes and fluid lines with botanical elements. Nature is my biggest muse, and for me, a tattoo is not just decoration—it’s a way to help clients feel confident and comfortable in their own skin.

How do you approach designing a tattoo to ensure it truly reflects your client’s vision?
From the very first consultation, I can usually sense what belongs on someone’s skin. The “flow” of my designs comes from the client’s vibe, while the illustrative and graphic elements are shaped by their ideas. My role is to transform all of that into a full composition that fits them perfectly.
What do you enjoy most about being a tattoo artist, and what do you find most challenging?
The best part of being a tattoo artist is knowing that my artwork becomes alive and timeless on someone’s skin. That’s why I wanted to transform my paintings into something lasting—memories that people can carry with them. It’s an amazing feeling to help someone express themselves through my art.
The most challenging part is constantly reinventing myself and my style with every client. Each person is unique, and my designs should always reflect their individuality in the best way possible.

You have such a friendly vibe—how important is building a strong connection with your clients to you?
Building a strong connection is really important. Without that bond, clients wouldn’t feel safe during the tattoo process, and they wouldn’t be able to trust me when I offer them aesthetic advice about the piece we’re creating together.
Tattooing is a fast-paced and ever-evolving industry. How do you keep learning and continue to grow as an artist?
I’m always researching new styles and techniques, and I love spending time in art museums. But honestly, I’m most inspired by other artists. I think it’s really important in our industry to share knowledge and grow together.

What would you like to achieve as an artist, and how do you see yourself contributing to the tattoo community?
I still have so much to learn, and every day is a new journey for me. But the most important thing is to make each client’s experience special and memorable. No matter how exhausting the day might be, I want to be sure that every tattoo I create looks stunning.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of art and tattooing?
It can be a little tough because tattooing and designing take a lot of time. I often work 10–12 hours a day, but when I have free time, I love hiking, running, and just being in nature. That really inspires me—every time I see a new flower, tree, or animal, I imagine how I could bring it into my next design.
